Joining Up?    Cadets    Adults

So you want to join up?

"The more you put into the Air Cadets, the more you get back out - there is always something extra to do or go for."

The Air Cadets is open to all young people aged 13-17 regardless of nationality, race or ability.  You may even be able to stay on until you are 18 or even 20, depending upon the rank you obtain while in the Corps.  Disabled cadets welcomed into the Corps. provided their handicap doesn't prevent them from taking part in a reasonable number of activities or is likely to put themselves or others in danger.

You do not have to become a member of the RAF once you leave cadets.  While a lot of cadets do move on to RAF careers, it is not a requirement.  Every cadet joins up for their own reasons, be that they want to go flying, play sport, join the RAF, or even just meet new friends.

What we expect from you

The ACO is a "Military" youth organisation which has high standards to maintain.  You will be expected to take pride in your uniform, appearance, Squadron and the Corps, as well as behave in a responsible manner.

Membership cost is kept to an absolute minimum - we even supply your Uniform.  Current weekly subs are £2.  This goes to help pay for the running of the Squadron.

The only other  requirement from you is that you take part in as many of the activities as possible - most Cadets don't need much persuading to do this!
